My barrel was just a little smaller so I had to cut the corners of the crate so it would fit. Also my barrel had a hole with a plug in it so I put some putty around that. I enjoyed making it. Im gonna make one or two more for myself and one for my mom

Okay I posted two videos. The first one set up at my house I used red lava rock. I changed it today and added some plants and they’re probably gonna put a few goldfish in

If you watch the vid again you will see that there is a pipe running from underneath the milk crate to the top dish of the fountain. 1 end a pump is attached the other a fountain head. The fountain weights 250.5 lbs and it is fused together with a pipe unless you child head buts the fountain or is able to submerge his head under 3 inches of water there will be no issues here.
Watch the vid again, this is 250 lbs bottom heavy neither you nor a child will be accidentaly knocking this over.

Nice looking but dangerous.
If a small child runs into it, there is nothing securing the pots together and being as they are on a milk crate that also makes it top heavy.
Oh and the nozzle used is a foaming nozzle.

nice.. very creative.. i also tried building my own fountain.. i liked it. The problem is the quality of our tap water is not good. It’s deep well hard water and leaves white sediments that will soon make the fountain look unattractive. Hard water rust, I think it is. Then the submerged rocks will eventually turn green with algae..

@mhguy77 Thank you. I will do that.

I did zip tie the pump but it is really just important that it is suspended above the barrel bottom. You may be able to support your pump by the tubing and fountain head itself.
The cord is just over the top of the back, please make sure that there is a drip spot in the cord, (a place that the cord is lower than the plug in recepticle so the water doesnt run into the power plug).

Nice Fountain, I plan on building one in the next couple weeks. Your design has given me lots of ideas. I just had a couple questions…
1. Did you zip tie the pump to the middle top of the milk crate? It looked like that is what you did. I know that shouldn’t really matter in any case.
2. How did you route the pumps power cord. Is it exiting out over the top backside of your bottom water barrel?
Thanks for your video… Can’t wait to build my fountain.

Yes, you wan tto set up a drip loop.
The wire needs to come out of the put and before it gets back to the outlet it needs to loop above itself so any water dripping will always run to a lower point than the outlet.
Great question

Very nice! Where does the wire exit? I’m assuming it just exits thru the top of the barrel filled with water. Any safety concerns with that?
