Top Fountains

   This is a beautiful fountain. However, before you order, you need to consider the following:
   
   1. Birds love this fountain and frolic and bathe in it, leaving behind bird gook, which can make the water dirty and clog the pump. Plan to dump it every single day to refill with clean water or the bird poo will clog the pump….this is important. I placed the fountain in one spot and planted flowers around it, only to have to tip the whole fountain sideways every day to rinse out the bird gook and then have to gently replace, rebalance and refill the fountain. I would put pantyhose over the bottom part of the top section (you’ll know what I mean if you get one) and that should delay to necessity to dump the dirty water daily.
   
   2. Solar does not mean it works on a sunny day! You will not be able to place this anywhere you want….the solar panel must be 100% in direct view of the sun. Early morning, the panel is beneath the top edge and that is enough to prevent the sun from hitting it 100% so it does not work until around noon when the sun is highest in the sky. Any obstruction – small cloud or bird landing – between the solar panel and the sun will cause the fountain pump to stop immediately.
   
   3. The instruction booklet and online pictures are very poorly done and difficult to understand. My first solar panel did not work right and the info was not helpful and the three emails to the manufacturer were not answered. However, amazon came to the rescue in lightening speed and took care of getting a replacement to me in two days!
   
   In any case, take your time setting it up and give it two days to get up to speed.

   I am really pleased with this fountain. I lease the home I am in, and the owner did not want to remove an ugly tree stump in the backyard. I placed this fountain on the stump and planted flowers around the base, and
   
   it looks wonderful! The fountain arrives in three pieces and took less than five minutes to assemble. The pump started immediately and since I placed it where it receives direct sunlight, it runs most of the day when it is sunny. I think it looks even better than the picture. The only point I would make is that the directions tell you to use distilled water.
   
   I did this the first time I filled, but with evaporation this would not be practical to do all the time. Our water quality is good, so I hope that this will not be a problem long term. For the price, this is really a good purchase.

   I loved this fountain until the pump stopped working after about a month. Amazon will not honor anything after 30 days. Was directed to contact manufacturer, but this is not looking promising. I think Amazon should stand behind the products they sell instead of washing their hands of you in 30 days. I now have a very expensive birdbath.

   A wonderful addition to any patio, deck or garden. A little bit of Rome in your own backyard. So throw your “3 coins in the fountain” and watch the birdies come. Works like magic in the sunlight…but does take a pause as a cloud passes. It’s well built and very soothing. You will need to hose out the little pump every couple of weeks though as it does get gunked up…but it’s no big deal. Well worth the price. You will love it…and it’s from Amazon…what more could you want? So stop reading already! Go order one…the price is right, too!

   On the positive side: (1) This birdbath is quite lovely to look at and very relaxing to listen to. (2) The birds seem to enjoy it as much as I do. I never saw birds before and now doves and smaller birds have daily pool parties out there. (3) It was incredibly easy to put together. (4) I enjoy it so much that I bought a second one for my daughter.

   On the negative side: (1) It’s so sensitive to the sun that it doesnt work unless the sun is shining directly on the solar panel. That means it doesnt work in the early morning or late afternoon. It stops working if a cloud passes in front of the sun or if someone walks up to look at it and casts a shadow on it. It’s so lovely that I dont mind its not working most of the time, though.

   The negative is not enough to rate this birdbath any less than a 5, however, and I’d highly recommend this product to anyone. Be sure to buy it on Amazon.com because it’s up to $50 cheaper here than anywhere else.
