Why does my cat “sweep” the floor before he drinks his water?
It looks like he is mindlessly digging. He has a water fountain and he dunks his head under the fountain before he starts drinking. Does anyone know why? Is it possible that a cat can have OCD?
I let him be. Hes just a goofy cat and I keep forgetting to ask the vet when I go. Glad mine isn't the only one doing this.

Some cats “bury” their food and water. Mine do with their water, for some reason. It may have ocd, but as long as the cat isn’t hurting anyone or itself, all is well.

Yep. Been there, seen that. Just look upon it with a smile.
On the fountain issue, if it is a stream, and he dunks his head, he is probably licking the streams that flow off his head. Sometimes it takes them awhile to understand that they can simply lick the stream. Often, they learn by watching another cat who learned.
My oldest cat knows how to drink from a stream, but my youngest still hasn’t gotten it fully figured out. She either dunks her head, swats the stream, or bites the stream.
